Case of Adult form of MLD or Metachromatic leukodystrophy
[Case credits: Dr. Anish Vaknalli]
Testimonial:
MLD as described by Mr. Manpreet Singh who is under our treatment.
MLD is short for metachromatic leukodystrophy and is an autosomal recessive genetic defect. MLD means: meta - change, chromatic - color, leuko - white matter, dystrophy - degeneration. MLD's name therefore comes from degeneration in the white matter of the brain and Central Nervous System (CNS) which has a color on staining that should not be there. Staining was how the disease was observed before the advent of the MRI.
MLD is a genetic disorder and we were resigned to the fact that there is No Cure for it in Allopathic medicine. Since 2012 April, when I felt the attack for the first time, we were looking for alternative treatments. Progressively my condition was deteriorating.
Fortunately, a friend took me to his family doctor; he saw me and heard me. He checked my pulse and said I am showing signs of acute weakness. He said there is a cure for MLD only in ayurveda or homeopathy. He gave me a brochure. I had also tried color therapy, Tibetans medicine & acupuncture.
On 19 Nov 2015 I met Dr Anish Vaknalli for the first time. Dr. Vaknalli gave me ample time and I came out very satisfied with hope. Whenever I have a question to ask, Dr. Vaknalli responds quickly, so I feel comfortable.
Today, on 7th Feb, 2016 after Dr. Anish Vaknalli’ s 3 months of treatment I now do yoga twice a day for 40 minutes each. Now I can walk for 24 mins. Hand tremors have largely reduced. Earlier, since 2010 I could not sign. These days I sleep for 8 hours undisturbed which was not the case before. Last winter I used to feel very cold. This time I feel much better.
All in all I am very satisfied. I can be contacted on 99201-65133

MLD in detail
Metachromatic leukodystrophy or MLD, is a lysosomal storage disease which affects the growth and/or development of myelin, the insulating sheath around many nerve fibres, which increases the speed at which impulses are conducted. Those affected by MLD basically lack an enzyme called Arylsulfatase-A without which sulfatides build-up in the white matter of the brain and CNS. This causes destruction of the myelin sheath which covers the nerve fibre responsible for conveying signals between the nerve and brain.
Signs and symptoms
There different forms of MLD are:
Late infantile, juvenile, and adult. Do note that the type of MLD usually remains consistent within a family.
Late infantile form
This is the most common form. Children with MLD begin having difficulty in motor skills or walking after the first year of life. Muscle wasting, muscle rigidity, developmental delays, loss of vision, difficulty swallowing, paralysis and loss of memory are the presenting signs. The prognosis is fatal and if untreated, most children die by age 5.
Juvenile form of MLD (onset between 4 and 14 years of age)
Usually begin with impaired motor and cognitive skills. They may present with loss of gait or balance, poor school performance, memory loss and declining social skills. Age of death is variable and is normally within 10 to 12 years of the onset of symptoms.
Adult form of MLD
Commonly begins from the 20’s and is characterized by an absolute normal puberty life. Its progression is usually slower than the other 2 types, but the signs and symptoms are the same.
Allopathic Treatment
There is currently no treatment or cure for MLD.
Homeopathic Treatment
Treating cases termed as incurable can be very challenging. Having the patients trust, optimism and patience is particularly essential. Genetic disorders at our centres are treated using the following protocol:
Individual or Constitutional remedy is a remedy chosen after understanding the persons personality traits, likes, dislikes, past and current medical history etc helps in slowing down the condition at a deeper level and addresses the genetic disposition.
Disease specific remedy: Remedy chosen on the basis of the signs and symptoms of the disease helps in relieving the condition superficially in genetic disorders.
In this case the remedies used were Causticum (constitutional) and Plumbum met (specific) and did wonders. Mr. Sing is on our treatment and over the past 4 months has recovered miraculously and now performs most functions normally.
You can seek treatment for MLD as well as other chronic or genetic disorders online at www.homeoconsult.com or by visiting us in person at our 3 centres in Mumbai.
Sincerely, Dr. Anish Vaknalli
