Dr. Anish Vaknalli's views on the Indian Governments decision to allow Homeopaths to practice Allopathy after completing a short allopathic course. 

His view was that 'Classical Homeopathy will be killed if mixed with allopathy' is evident with the rising number of Homeopaths today choosing mainstream allopathic practice rather than using their Homeopathic knowledge to better use.

Case 1: Leucocytoclastic Vasculitis

Leukocytoclastic vasculitis (LCV), also known as hypersensitivity vasculitis, typically involves inflammation of small-vessel and palpable purpuras (red or purple discoloration of skin) measuring 1-3 mm. In some cases the purpura may not be palpable and their distribution can be anywhere on the body. Immune complexes in the blood and a host of other auto-antibodies are involved in its manifestation.

Causes: 
An identifiable cause can be found in half the cases, the remaining being idiopathic (cause unknown). Antibiotics, NSAIDS, diuretics, vaccines, infections, respiratory infections, HIV, allergens in food, Hepatitis c, Ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease etc are some known causes.

Clinical presentation:
The case photos shown here are of an young female who visited Dr. Anish Vaknalli with typical signs of palpable purpura and joint pains. Her symptoms had started soon after being administered antibiotics. She suffered from severe itching with lesions on her arms, back and legs.

Homeopathic treatment and mode of action:

After carefully evaluating all her symptoms homoeopathic remedies capable of stabilizing her immune response were prescribed. 

Remedies commonly used are Lycopodium, Natrum Mur, Rhus Tox, Sepia, Bovista, Antipyrinum, to name a few. However, the remedy may vary since the etiology and presentation does vary in most cases and can be entirely different. Kindly abstain from self-medication.

Also, since her condition was a result of a reaction to anitbiotics, a remedy capable of antidoting it homeopathically was also considered.

Case 2: Drug-Induced Vasculitis

Ms. V presented with papular eruptions on her feet, arms and abdomen which itched and left blackish discoloration post the inflammation. It was spreading though she was prescribed some conventional allopathic medicines (presumably steroids).

Amazing recovery of a child with Mental Retardation and Generalized Dystonia (Movement disorder) as a result of brain damage 

What is Dystonia?

Dystonia is a neurological movement disorder, which is characterized by involuntary, sustained muscle contraction and spasms causing abnormal movements and postures. Dystonia can affect several different muscles at once or may affect a single muscle of the body.

Dystonia can be from birth or may occur in adult life. It can be hereditary, birth related (due to brain damage) or caused by infections, physical trauma and even pharmaceutical drugs.

Mental retardation (MR) is a generalized disorder appearing before adulthood, characterized by significantly impaired cognitive functioning and deficits in two or more adaptive behaviors.

Description of a Case being treated at HomeoConsult RD

Ms. Vaibhavi was brought to Dr. Anish Vaknalli’s Centre in October 2011. 

She presented with:

MRI: Diffuse, small T2 hyperintense foci, leukomalacia (damage or softening) due to white matter injury occurring on immature white matter. Her condition was a result of brain damage at birth and was offered no medical treatment other than physiotherapy.

Signs of brain damage, mental retardation and delayed development:

• Delayed milestones such as walking and talking
• Poor cognition and adaptive behavior
• She was unable to eat. Suffered from severe constipation
• Walked without balance as if she was about to fall
• Excessive stubbornness, and cried and screeched continuously
• Lacked attention, comprehension and failed to follow commands

Signs of dystonia she presented with:

• Generalized dystonia (involuntary muscle contractions and movements)
• Involuntary spasms in the back and legs causing imbalance and twisted postures
• Neck and hand spasms without pain
• Jerking movements from the head to legs
• Unusual bending and twisting of the torso

Treatment outcome after 2 months of Homeopathic treatment

The treatment prescribed initially for Vaibhavi included homeopathic medicines capable of correcting the abnormal motor response and co-ordination as well as our in-house, researched remedies which have proven to help children with brain damage resulting in delayed milestones and heightened sensitivity.

Within the first month she showed the following changes:

Her constant crying and irritability reduced by over 50%. Her imbalance and muscle spasms reduced by over 30%. In the following month she started using words and tried to communicate by using words like ‘papa’ and ‘mama’.

Ankylosing Spondylitis treatment, cause and Homeopathy

What is Ankylosing spondylitis (AS)?

Ankylosing spondylitis is a chronic form of arthritis affecting the joints in the spine and the sacroilium in the pelvis. Larger joints like the knee can also be affected. It is initially characterized by pain and stiffness of the lower back, followed by severe rigidity of the spine due to fusion of the spinal vertebrae (bamboo spine). The pain may radiate from the lower back to the buttock or the back of the thighs in its early stages and generally increases on rest, and improves with physical activity.

Causes of AS: 

Ankylosing spondylitis is considered to be an autoimmune disease though the responsible autoantibody has so far not been pin pointed. App. 90% of people with Ankylosing spondylitis have a gene called HLA-B27.

Diagnosis: 

Approximately 90% of individuals express HLA B27 genotype. An x-ray or MRI will show changes in the spine or sacroilium. During acute attacks there is usually an increase in CRP (C - reactive protein) and ESR

Other symptoms: 

Inflammation of the white of the eye (iridocyclitis) causing eye pain and generalized fatigue are some common symptoms associated with Ankylosing spondylitis. 

Stages of AS: 

Ankylosing spondilitis is regarded as an autoimmune condition in which inflammation of the ligaments and joints of the spine and sacroilium results in deposition of bone tissue. The tissue overtime fuses the bones causing rigidity and immobility of the spine and hip joints. The Joint degeneration and fusion is a chronic process and if appropriate measures like exercise, proper posture and homeopathic medicines are introduced early, the condition can be prevented from worsening.

Role of Homeopathy in Ankylosing spondylitis: 

The treatment used at our centres has proven to play a vital role in relieving symptoms of those affected by this condition, without any side effects.
